I was just at a smorgasbord in Stockholm and they served a thinly sliced rare beef salad with a wasabi and chilli dressing with rocket. Omg, so yum! I’d love if you could create this. I took a photo if that helps.
Hi again. Hope I don’t sound to greedy but thought of a few more things I’d like to see gluten free /gf adaptable versions of:
– Taco rice
– savoury muffins or similar that make individual serves and can be frozen.
– Rice/grain bowls for one
– Any dessert that is chocolate and mint favoured.
Beef Braciole (stuffed steak) pleeaaseeeee!
Love your recipes. My request is a simple recipe, bombay potatoes. Thanks in advance
Thank you for all your other recipes 🙂
I would love your version of a beef and vegetable Pasty/Pastie
Thanks
Blimey Rebecca, I’m guessing you’re talking about a Cornish Pasty? I think you should have warned Nagi about the pasty minefield she could walk in to 🤣
So a tiny bit of history – it’s a food stuff that followed Cornish miners all over the world. The Cornish got called Cousin Jacks and Cousin Jills (other names used there too). Between 1850 – 1900 ish 50% of the Cornish emigrated. One of the richest places in the uk for certain minerals was so poor for the locals half of them had to leave….
So the pasty went all over the world – anywhere there was stuff in the ground. The joke was that anywhere there’s a big hole dug in the ground, there’s a Cornish man at the bottom! NZ, Aus, US, Mexico, Canada, Southern Africa and more!
So – crimping! The folding of the pasty. Big debate in Cornwall. It’s basically a miner worker’s food – big solid pie eaten with dirty hands. Side crimp makes sense. Other ones crimped on top – maybe easier? Not for underground?
Would have apple in the other end for dessert!
My dad (90) does top crimping, or used to until recently. No, that doesn’t mean he’s changed sides – just not up to it!
He also says his mum used to sometimes add in parsley, and sometimes make a hollow and crack an egg in – during WW2 probably needed non – meat protein. It was rural then so had own chickens / chooks 😂
It’s a pastry circle topped with thinly sliced potatoes, then swede / turnip (another debate 😂) then onion then meat. Skirt meat says dad.
So many pasty debates…
And yes a Cornish cream tea – clotted cream is Cornish, cream on the bottom jam on top! 🤣
Ha ha hit send too soon – clotted cream always good! Cream on top! Got them the wrong way around 👍
Hi Nagi,
I’m still waiting for my cookbook, can’t wait to get it. I really would like to see wraps? Any kind of vegetable and meat or vegetable and sea food combination. 😉

Coeliac-suitable “swaps” in some recipes.
